“Choose Well” Free Birth Control Options

“Intended pregnancy means healthier mothers, healthier babies, and a healthier state economy.”
– choosewell.org

Looking for free birth control that lasts for years? You can have the freedom of knowing your birth control is doing its job without having to take a pill every day by using a LARC (Long-Acting Reversible Contraception). LARCs include IUDs like Paragard, Liletta, and Skyla and the birth control implant, Nexplanon.

Regardless of your health insurance, you are eligible for free birth control through Choose Well as long as you are a South Carolina resident.

You Deserve Better Options for Free Birth Control

At Careteam Plus, we offer four free birth control options for eligible women through the “Choose Well” program. Free and accessible birth control allows women to make the smartest and most effective healthcare decisions for their lifestyles.

Choose from our long-term acting birth control options:

  • Paragardnon-hormonal IUD that can last up to 10 years
  • Lilettahormonal IUD that can last up to 5 years
  • Skylahormonal IUD that can last up to 3 years
  • Nexplanonimplant (inserted under the skin of the upper arm) that can last up to 3 years

It’s important that women have access to many different types of birth control they can afford. The type of birth control that works for one woman may not work for another and it’s important that you find a type of birth control that helps keep you healthy.

Hormonal vs. Non-Hormonal IUDs

For example, some women do very well on hormonal treatments like the pill or ring, while others have a negative reaction to them. For women who do not want hormonal treatments, a copper IUD is often the best option.

Many women prefer to have access to condoms in addition to another form of birth control because they help prevent the spread of STDs and provide a backup for peace of mind. It’s also important to remember that many women take birth control to treat conditions like PCOS or to manage PMS and acne, and not all birth control options work the same way for this.
