About Chef Marcus
Chef Marcus Sumpter is a culinary professional with nearly 19 years of experience in the food and hospitality industry. His passion for cooking began in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he learned in the kitchen alongside his father and grandmother.
He trained in Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts through Lancaster County Career & Technology Center, Le Cordon Bleu, and Walnut Hill College. He later expanded his expertise through hands-on experience with Chef Jose Garces and by helping open restaurants across Philadelphia, Napa Valley, and beyond.
Marcus is the founder of Liam’s Catering, known for elevated comfort food, private dining, and creative catering experiences. He is currently the Executive Chef of the Hot Tomato in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and runs the Little Chef Academy, a culinary program focused on youth education and mentorship.
Today, he continues to focus on culinary innovation, community engagement, and inspiring the next generation of chefs through food and education.
