The day highlights its impact across the globe and encourages action to make a real difference. Know the facts. Hepatitis takes 1.3 million lives each year, and the number is still growing. It is now the deadliest virus after COVID-19. Over 300 million people live with it, and two million more are infected yearly. It is the main cause of liver cancer. The goal is to eliminate hepatitis by 2030, but progress is falling behind. Take action. We have the tools to end hepatitis, but efforts are too slow. Many are still left behind due to lack of resources, stigma, and broken promises. For World Hepatitis Day 2025, the World Hepatitis Alliance and partners in 120 countries are urging action to stop this preventable disease.
